Austin Green Building - Net Zero Energy

A Zero Net Energy (ZNE) home is designed and constructed to consume zero net energy and produce zero carbon emissions each year.  In order for a ZNE home to succeed, including a component that produces energy is vital, especially when considering the economical and ecological costs of energy today.

What does this mean for me?

  • A home that will last more than 100 years
  • An abundance of natural daylight
  • Low energy bills
  • Solar collection for hot water and electricity production
  • A strongly-insulated envelope that ensures an essentially sound-proof home
  • Carpets, cabinets, countertops, paints and stain finishes that are attractive, sustainable, and toxin-free
  • An agreeable, consistent air temperature
  • Recycled content and low embodied energy materials
  • Heat stored either in the form of on-site water or electricity in the grid from excess PV production
  • ENERGY STAR-standard construction

How is a Zero Net Energy home achieved?

In order to achieve a zero net energy balance, “loads” (energy demand) must be as low as possible.  A form of clean energy supply, or “production”, must be chosen.  Possibilities include the purchase of renewable energy credits or solar PVs.

GreenTex Builders has yet to build a true Zero Net Energy house.  However it is an important near-term goal for our company and we have spent a lot of time perfecting our method for achieving this goal.  If you are interested in being the proud owner of the first GreenTex Net Zero home, we are 100% confident in our ability to help you achieve that goal at a special discounted rate.  Please Contact Us to discuss.
