Here is GreenTex Builders latest custom home building project in central Austin. Based on our geotechnical engineer and structural engineer's assessment of the soil on the lot, we were given 2 options for building the foundation. We chose to cut out 7 feet of the clay soil and fill it back with compacted select fill. Throughout the process, Nicholas Kauffman at Capital Geotechnical Services PLLC, came out and tested the compaction rates at 1 foot lift intervals. It was quite a scene with all of the dirt piled up around the exterior waiting to be hauled off. Here is another picture of the bobcats transferring the dirt from one machine to another... After compacting the select fill and getting the site ready for our slab, this is what it looks like today. Our plumbers will come in next week and add the plumbing drains in the dirt before we get the rebar in the slab, inspections, and then we will pour the concrete. At this point we are well on our way to building our next Austin Custom Home. Here is a preliminary rendering of the home in the Balcones woods neighborhood near 2222 and Mopac. We are still not set on the exterior facade, but we will keep you posted on the finishes that we choose along the way. Thanks for reading and check back with us to see the progress.
